When it comes to getting a really great Pilates workout, consistency is the key.

When it comes to getting a really great Pilates workout, consistency is the key.

Joseph Pilates promised that you'll feel different in 10 sessions, you'll look different in 20 sessions, and you'll have a whole new body in 30 sessions. But you can't drag this out over a period of months and expect to get good results.

If you want to get stronger, more flexible, leaner, more toned or just feel great, regular, well performed movement is where it’s at. We love Pilates because it gives you head space, as well as getting you stronger, fitter and more flexible and really, who couldn’t do with all of those great benefits?

How often should you do Pilates? We recommend 2-3x a week. Our clients tell us that with a regular Pilates practice they can see and feel the difference in their own bodies. Whether they’re with us to get stronger, more toned, to cross train for their chosen sport or to get out of pain, regular Pilates has been their key to improvement. Just think how you feel when you take a week or two off from the studio…typically your body is more tense and achey.

It may surprise you, but consistency matters more than the intensity. Giving a regular routine of exercise to your body is the key to sustainable weight loss, muscle growth/maintenance, and overall health. When you exercise regularly, you not only burn more energy, but you are also provided with psychological and emotional benefits. Think of intensity as short term - it may be good at times, but it isn’t there to last a lifetime. Consistency at a lower intensity will be something that you can count on long term
